To serve your church family, would you consider providing a meal? After surgery, a new baby or even when a spouse is deployed with the military, it’s often a huge blessing to not have to worry about “what’s for dinner?” If you would like to be added to the meal train list, please

SERMON NOTES

RETURN TO HOPE
The Coming of the King

Zechariah 9-10
Pastor Josh Beakley

REFLECTION

When it comes to trusting in kings, it’s worth waiting for the right one.

Three appropriate ways to honor the coming king:

HONOR WHO HE IS AGAINST
AWAIT HIS JUSTICE (9:1-8)

HONOR HOW HE CHOOSES TO APPEAR
CELEBRATE HIS APPEARANCE (9:9-17)

HONOR WHAT HE PLANS TO ACCOMPLISH
ANTICIPATE HIS DELIVERANCE (10:1-12)

reflection

  • Do you often think of Jesus as king? Why or why not?
  • How has God surprised you with the unexpected ways he has worked in your life?

DISCUSsION QUESTIONS

  • When are you most tempted to doubt God’s justice?
  • What about Jesus makes him a king unlike any other?
  • How should God’s love for his flock shape how you think about other sheep and shepherds amidst God’s people?
