Worship / Music

Biblical worship is a joyful response to all that God is with all that we are.

Sunday worship at Bethany includes a team of musicians and vocalists, typically featuring guitars, piano, drums. Occasionally, we also include strings, horns or other musicians. At Bethany, we sing both new and old songs, traditional hymns as well as re-tuned hymns. Despite a variety of styles and sounds, our overarching goal is to accompany the church as the congregation sings praises to God, and to, “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly,” as we sing together.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

Colossians 3:16 ESV

Music plays a critical role in our joyful response to God in Scripture, with many references to music, instrumentation, and specific songs throughout the Bible.

From the Song of Moses in Exodus 15, to the instructions for making and playing trumpets in Numbers 10:1-10, to the entire book of Psalms written to be sung by the congregation, to Paul’s encouragement to address and admonish one another with, “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs…” in Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16. Following the example in Scripture, our music ministry exists to inspire a grander vision of worship in our congregation and to move the church to respond to God through music.
