The vibrant small group ministry at Bethany exists to glorify God by providing opportunities for our church body to experience the immense spiritual benefits and joys of deep biblical friendships (Rom. 12:10). Bethany community groups are home-based, regular gatherings of six or more adults who are led by qualified leaders and overseen by elders in order to build caring, faith-sustaining, lasting relationships that are marked by transparency in relation to life’s challenges and struggles. Thus, community groups are not primarily intended for teaching and preaching; rather community groups are designed for application. They create a context where Christians can apply God’s truth in a personal, practical way.
We are excited about how God uses biblical relationships through this ministry to strengthen and encourage our mutual spiritual growth into the image of Jesus Christ. Community group terms follow the school calendar (September-April), taking breaks over the summer and during the month of December.
How do I get connected to a Community Group?
- Pray. Ask God to direct you to the group that will be most joyful to your spiritual growth and fruitfulness.
- Select Your Desired Group. Choose the group that best meets your personal preferences, schedule, and location. Use the community group finder to narrow the groups to only those which fit your desired criteria.
For families with young children, please note that some groups are planning to accommodate the presence of children at the regular meeting times, while others do not. Learn more about Bethany’s Childcare Financial Assistance for community groups.
If your desired group is already full, please prayerfully consider an alternative group (or email the church office to have your name put on a list requesting new leaders to contact you), and trust that our sovereign God has good plans for you in that new group.
- Commit. Express your commitment to regularly participate in your desired group by completing the sign-up form for that group. You may talk with the community group leader at any time, but registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis by these sign-up forms. Your community group leader will contact you prior to your first meeting to confirm your enrollment.
