Mosaic is a ministry group that focuses on reaching out to people from different cultures and backgrounds in the Peoria area. We desire to help our church become even more welcoming to other cultures so that we can introduce people to our savior Jesus Christ.
On Pentecost in Acts 2, many nations were gathered in
Jerusalem, providing a ready audience to whom the disciples could preach the Good News. In Peoria, many cultures and nations are gathering, providing a ready audience for us to share the Gospel.
Goals for Mosaic Ministry
• Welcome people from other cultures into our community and introduce them to Christ. Help newcomers and visitors quickly become a part of the Bethany family and enjoy Godly fellowship.
A few avenues for outreach to people from other cultures
• AWANA
• Bridges International Student Ministry at Bradley
• PAFIS (Peoria Area Friends of International Students)
• Hosting foreign exchange students
• World Fest in Peoria
• International Food Fairs in Peoria
Ways to be more welcoming
• Greet newcomers (Greeter Ministry)
• Follow up consistently with those we have met (Cookie Brigade at BCC, among other ways)
• Personal invitations to House-to-House groups and ABC classes
• Show hospitality
– invite people into our homes, lunch after church
• Include newcomers in our family holiday celebrations
• Remember that just because people regularly attend doesn’t mean they feel connected!
